End of Summer Swiftwick Giveaway
Congratulations! We’ve made it.
We survived another long, hot summer of training. We conquered waking up at the crack of dawn to run before the thermometer sky rocketed. We sweated through every pair of running clothes we own. We dealt with feeling like we would melt, have a lung collapse or simply just burst into tears after those bad runs that felt miserably hard. But we kept at it. We stayed focused on our goals – be it a half marathon, marathon, triathlon or other fitness goal. And here we are at the last day of summer – a finish line in and of itself.
The most challenging season is behind us. Fall is here!
For surviving the last 3 months of training in the summer heat, you deserve a medal … or at least some free socks.
I’m thrilled to team up with Swiftwick to give away a $25 gift card to swiftwick.com to kick off your fall training with a bang and thank your feet for getting you through the hot summer months.
Truth be told, I’ve never been loyal to a particular brand of sock like I am with my shoes. I run in a variety of brands, colors, thicknesses and styles. So you can imagine my excitement when I had the chance to try a new and different pair of socks for the first time last month. Swiftwick was kind enough to give everyone on my Nuun Hood to Coast Relay team a free pair of their Vibe Zero and Green Striped Vision Aspire Twelve compression socks to try. The Vibe Zeros are marketed as a no-show, no-slip sock that sits just below the ankle with a compression footbed and minimal cuff. The Aspire Twelves are calf-length compression socks that are designed to minimize vibration, eliminate cramps and speed recovery.
Although I’ve never worn Swiftwick socks before, there are many Swiftwick socks in my house. Mr. rUnladylike will not wear any other brand of sock. Period. I once tried to buy him some new (expensive) running socks and when he saw they weren’t Swiftwicks, he took one look at them and headed straight to the return line at our local running store. Lesson learned. Clearly I’ve been missing out on something.
Since Hood to Coast, I’ve had a chance to try both pairs of my new Swiftwick socks, and I’ve been pleased. I wear my calf-length compression socks for recovery rather than while running (I simply get too hot running in calf/knee-length socks). What I really like about the Aspire Twelves is the length. Most compression socks are too long for me, requiring me to fold them over below the knee to fall at the right place on my leg. The Swiftwick version is just right and will likely be a better fit for many women.
The below-the-ankle Vibe Zeros also felt good on my feet. I recently wore them for a tempo run and they felt comfortable and did not slip down my heel. They are a tad bit lower than the typical no-show socks I wear, but I thought they provided great comfort and function.

What is your favorite piece of running gear you cannot run without (answer is mandatory to enter the contest)? If you’ve tried Swiftwick socks, what do you think of them.
Comments
I absolutely cannot run without my running watch and I have the tan lines to prove it too. It is an Ironman Triathlon watch made by Timex with a velcro strap of course. I have had it forever and my runs just wouldn’t be the same without it.
I can’t run without my Amphipod handheld water bottle & Swiftwick socks (I have around 10 pair). Also can’t run without my Rock Tape right now since my injury…I guess it’s kind of like my security blanket.
I’m a pretty low maintenance runner, I don’t have a lot of fancy gear but I certainly love to have some nice supportive sneakers, especially on hard roads.
I can’t run without good socks. I wear PROCompression on most of my runs, but would love to try Swiftwick.
Looooove compression socks!
My PROCompression Marathon socks! I practically live in them!
That’s simple — my sneakers. I am old school so I don’t run with music … I just enjoy the beauty of the run. I guess my garmin would be second on the list, but sometimes it is a way better run w/o timing.
I live in compression socks! I’d love to try out another brand!
My favorite is definitely my Mizunos, but I also never run without my Zensah compression socks. I’m not loyal to the socks like I am my shoes so I’d love to try out another type!
I cannot run without my Garmin, I am behind the times with all other technology but have come to rely on this all too much
I cannot run without my watch but I want to try some new socks!
I get really superstitious on race day. Lately I have insisted on racing in my St. Jude Nike baseball cap. I have PRed every single time I have worn it, so clearly it’s an important running accessory! I have been meaning to pick up some compression socks, my bf swears by them!
Sunglasses! I CAN NOT stand squinting in the bright sun. If it’s day time, I am wearing sunglasses.
my necklace from an AG award at the AFLAC Iron Girl!
I love my Garmin. It lets me run anywhere without having to plan a route and tells me how far I’ve gone. I really like Swiftwick socks too i only have a few pair, but they are my go to socks
I can’t run without my phone — mostly for safety reasons, but also because I need music or something to listen to. I get bored easily 🙂
I can’t run without my shoes. I love my Saucony Rides!
I love compression socks and sleeves. I have some on today at work in anticipation of my 22 mile run tomorrow!
Good luck on that long run! You will do great!
A goooooood pair of running shoes 😉
I love my Garmin, but I have a pair of Swiftwick compression socks that I love and would love another pair!
Favorite piece of running gear I can’t run without is a pair of my favorite running shoes. I love my garmin and ipod, and spibelt on long runs but you don’t NEED those things….good shoes however, can take you anywhere.
I cannot run without my Brooks PureFlow’s and my Garmin!
My favorite piece of running gear that I can’t run without would be my Brooks Ravenna’s and compression socks. For the longest time I thought my music was my lifeline to running but recently have been able to run without. Shocking I know!
Running shoes and my Garmin! I first heard about Swiftwick when buying my very first pair of running shoes and I instantly fell in love! Unfortunately, it’s so hard to find them in my nearby running stores.
I love having good pair of socks as Swiftwick to run in because they help prevent blisters for me! I also love having a comfy cap/visor to run in and can’t leave without one!
I’ve never tried Swiftwick socks. I don’t know if I have a favorite piece of running gear that I absolutely can’t do without. I guess it would have to be running shoes since I’m not going to run barefoot. But I haven’t found any shoes that I’m in love with yet.
Good socks and shoes!! I feel like the right shoes are such a duh, but socks are the hidden gem that make such a difference. I hate it when socks slip, rub, or anything. And I LOVE my swiftwicks.
I Have to have a good pair of running capris/spandex (my favorite pairs are from Target and Reebok)! And a good sports bra… I think the reasoning behind this is pretty obvious….
I always run with my RoadID!
My Garmin. I have an unhealthy relationship with it and it’s data.
My Garmin 🙂
My Garmin. It has really helped me when I first started out. I am not real loyal to any sock but I like my Pro Compression & Features socks. Would love to try Swiftwick
Does my iPhone count as an essential running piece? and my running shoes of course!
My running watch! 🙂
My visor! I forgot it the other day and felt naked!!
I love Swiftwick socks!!!
My favorite piece of running gear? A good bra!
I cannot run without my beautiful grape colored running shoes. I just bought a second pair, so I will be able to run in them for a long time!
My Mizuno running shoes and an Under Armour sports bra are a must! I bought a pair of Swiftwick socks this winter and really liked them.
I absolutely feel naked running without a watch. Even if I’m not watching it, it has to be there.
I cannot run without my headphones, seriously!
Comfy shoes and my ipod are my favorite things to run with.
My I pod
I cannot run without my Nike Sportwatch. I ran my first-ever road race with no GPS watch and hated not knowing how far I’d gone and how much I had left. It also was the first piece of “real runner equipment” I invested in for myself and was a symbol of my commitment to a half-marathon training program (which I completed)!
My Garmin! I’m a pace junkie. Haven’t tried the socks, but would like to 🙂
Definitely my ipod, and my headband
I always run with my running visor. Doesn’t matter if it’s sunny, cloudy, or night time – it’s always on my head when I’m running!
Me too, Jesse. You’ll never catch me on a run without my visor. Headsweats brand is my fav 🙂
mizuno shoes and a watch –> though not a garmin, which I only use in races: just a little standard Timex
Lululemon Energy bra! Lifesaver. I have almost every color!
My garmin!

My new found love my Mizuno’s!
I can’t run without my Yurbuds!! 🙂
I am in dyer need to find some great socks for long distance running. Something that will help toe issues is a plus. 😉
My audiobooks. They keep me going on my long runs.
can’t run without an Enell sports bra!
I can’t run without my favorite kick, (Saucony Kinvara) and a good pair of socks. I’m extremely picky about my socks, and when I find a pair I like, I buy several of them
My Garmin — I can be a slave to it!
I can’t run/speed walk without my New Balance 1540s! Actually – I speed walk because I’ve had foot surgery. and need to wear orthotics. These running shoes have been a blessing that have allowed my exercise program to get back on track and protect my feet!
I can’t run without my fave Nike Free Runs, an awesome pair of socks, and my iPhone w/Yurbuds!
I cannot run with out my running socks. Athletic socks dont cut it from Hanes.
I’d have to say my Mizuno Wave Rider’s. Took me awhile and many trips to the running store to find a pair of shoes that would work. Now that I have them, they rock!
Comfortable bra indeed and proper socks.
I HEART Swiftwick socks! The #1 thing I cannot run without, however, is my RoadID!
first off, i’m super excited I found your blog. My one thing I can’t go running without is my shoes!! and then my RoadID comes in near number 2! 🙂
I cannot live without my Nathan Intensity hydration vest!
It would have to be my garmin since I am a numbers guy
My running capris, a hat and my garmin.
