Run Happy Stocking Stuffer Giveaway
This giveaway has ended.
The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear giving away great running gear. Today is the first day of my Weekly December Holiday Running Gift-Away. Every Tuesday in December, I’m giving away awesome running gear and gadgets I love to make you run happier.
As the temperatures dip below freezing in many areas across the country, I want to fill your stocking with all the cold weather running accessories you need to stay warm from my friends at Brooks Running.
One lucky winner will get to choose 3 Brooks Running accessories of their choice from www.BrooksRunning.com, including:
- One hat or ear warmer
- One pair of arm warmers
- One set of gloves or mittens
I absolutely love running in the cold. I run my strongest and fastest when the temperatures are 45 degrees Fahrenheit or below (preferably in the low 30s). Having the right running gear to make cold weather running enjoyable is key. Here are the running accessories in each of the categories above that I’m digging right now.
Infinity Headband
When it comes to winter head gear, I typically prefer to run with ear warmers rather than a hat or beanie (often underneath a visor) because I heat up quickly. My cold weather head gear pick from Brooks is the Infinity Headband. I have it in black but it comes in other cool colors like hot pink, orange, yellow, purple, light blue and more. It’s lightweight and has moisture-wicking fabric and retroreflective detailing. I’ve also worn it in the rain and it kept my ears warm and dry.
Seamless Arm Warmers
When the temperature hovers between 45 and 48 degrees F and there is wind, I often struggle with deciding what to wear for both training runs and races. I typically prefer a tank top and shorts with ear warmers and gloves, but depending on how strong the wind is, arm warmers are a great option for those days I could go either way. I really like the Brooks Seamless Arm Warmers. I have them in both white and hot pink and really love them. They are like a second skin and never slide or move around. I wear my Garmin and my iPhone arm band over the arm warmers.
Utopia 3-in-1 Mitten II
As featured in my holiday gift guide for runners and triathletes, the Brooks Utopia mittens for both men and women are one of my favorite winter running finds of the season. There are 3 different options for wearing these based on the weather – just the liners, just the mittens or both together. Last weekend, I ran 10 miles in the rain when the temps were in the mid-40s and my hands stayed dry and warm the entire time. The liner has a touchscreen-compatible finger pad and a terry towel on the thumb to wipe away sweat. The mitten is also waterproof, wind-resistant and has retroreflective detail.

Comments
My biggest running accomplishment in 2013 is that in recent months I’ve been transitioning from casual runner (3 miles a few times a week) to following a half-marathon plan as a way to slowly increase my mileage and get serious about distance running. My longest run thus far has been 8 miles and I am looking forward to continuing to add to that.
Definitely running my first half back in August and falling in love with running over the summer!
I’m most proud of my first 5K that I didn’t take any walking breaks. That was a huge step for me.
Running my first (but not last) marathon in May!
I’m most proud that I became a certified running coach in 2013. Hoping to share my love, knowledge, and passion for running with others.
My biggest running accomplishment in 2013 was finishing my second half marathon and lowering my PR time by over 10 minutes!
I am most proud of my five mile run on Thanksgiving morning. I beat my goal time by 85 seconds!
I had a HUGE breakthrough running year and PR’d at every distance I ran at least once!
I am most excited and happy about my 10 mile race this year. it was faster than I’ve ever run and it showed my training worked!
I’m most proud of my first (and second) marathons! There are moments I still can’t believe I did it 🙂
Proudest moment in 2013: Fitness-wise, it would have to be completing my first triathlon after years of not doing them. Woke me back up to the wonderful world of tris!!
After going out waaaayyyy too fast at the Chicago Marathon (marathon #2), my time goal went out the window. All I wanted to do was finish with a smile on my face, and I did. 🙂
Finishing thw Wildflower 1/2 ironman with my son and a great group o new California friends.
Finished my second 70.3 this past weekend in Palm Springs and placed 3rd in my age. Not bad for a 41 year old mom of 5 (under age 13) who just started racing 3 years ago!
I am most proud that I have started running again and kept with it for a year. I ran 2 marathons last year and have made running part of my lifestyle.
I’m proud I signed up for my first half marathon! I wasn’t able to run it to to injury (still can’t run), but it helped me up my fitness goals and introduced me to spin as well!
My biggest accomplishment is training for a half marathon. I did run the race and PRed! but I was more proud that I stuck to the training plan, even when I really didn’t want to wake up early to do the 11 mile runs, etc. That taught me a lot about my personal habits and what i can accomplish if I get my butt out of bed in the morning.
2013 biggest accomplishment: While the St. Jude Memphis Marathon was cancelled, I still helped in raising over $8.2 million for those kids! And still showed up at the start line to get a run in despite the cancellation.
My biggest athletic accomplishment of 2013 and ever for that matter was Ironman Florida, my first full Ironman and I was able to complete it in under twelve hours.
I’m most proud of a new half marathon PR!
I’m most proud of my half marathon PR in October! 🙂
I was very proud to be asked by one of my closest friends to enter and train for her first 10k. I forgot about my pace for once and encouraged her throughout the course that she’s got it, to keep on going. It was fantastic to support a friend like that by helping her finish her first ever race.
I’m proud that I started running and while I was unable to run the half marathon I was trying for due to a tibial stress fx, I am back at it again now that I’m healthy. I can’t wait to be able to start training for races again.
My biggest accomplishment was competing in my first triathlon!
Next year is even bigger with a marathon in November – ahh!
I’m proud that I broke my squat PR!
I completed my first half marathon in November…and I was 11 weeks pregnant!
I ran my 2nd marathon and had a 28 minute PR and a negative split. WOOT!
I lost 20+lbs running & eating healthier. I’m stronger, more fit, and overall healthier than I’ve been my whole adult life!
I’m most proud of my almost 10-minute half marathon PR this year! Looking forward to what 2014 has in store!
Biggest accomplish of 2013: Changing my attitude during races and NOT chasing numbers. I ran the women’s half AZ as a celebration of my training and had the most fun and a good finishing time!
I’m proud that after having a c-section in June that I’m back running. I signed up for a half marathon in April!
I’m most proud of running my first half marathon (and hitting my goal of under two hours). When I decided I wanted to run a half this year, I was a once-a-week runner (at most) who had never run a race before. Now I’m training to run my first marathon, which was something I never thought I could do before.
This year I am most proud of running 4 half marathons and running 2 of those post knee injury. (torn meniscus) what makes these race even more special was running them with in a week of each other and PRing my last one of the year by 14 minutes. So overall happy to be healthy and happy to run!
I actually most proud of my wife who crushed her first 10K & my oldest who ran his first “real” cross country race, it was a great running year for us at eightcrazysoles 🙂
I am most proud of finishing the Augusta Half Ironman in late September. In a little over a year I went from being able to swim just one lap and needing to stop before heading back, to being able to swim for over an hour non-stop and actually enjoy it – especially in the local lakes where I practice. The past 12 months were filled with meeting new wonderful friends and learning so much about swimming and cycling and even new things about running!
I’ve PRed in the half marathon this year, and my goal is to get even faster in 2014!
2013 was a rough year in many ways but even without a single race on the schedule I’ve managed to run my longest distance yet and break through the wall I’ve been stuck at for a year in regards to my pace time.
I actually have two…PRing in the half marathon not once, but twice this summer and running my very first full marathon. It might be my last as well, but I found a new appreciation for those that train for a full every year.
I’m most proud that I completed my first marathon.
I am most proud that I dropped almost 25 minutes off my half marathon time in 6 months time. 2014 is the year I’m attempting to finish sub 2 hours and I want to complete a full marathon under 4:30
Running my first 1/2 Marathon in October.
I am proud that I completed the C25K this year, have ran two 5k’s and have another one this Saturday!
At this moment my most recent 10k PR Is what I’m most proud of. However, I’m thinking finishing my first marathon will top that after Saturday. Love all the Brooks gear, they are by far my favorite company. I’ve never gotten an item that I didn’t swoon over.
Completed my first 10 Mile
AND
FIRST HALF-MARATHON!!!
love both of those distances, now!
In 2013 I accomplished my goal of 500 miles ran (actually beat it a couple months ago, almost to 600 so far). Also, I ran my first (and second) half-marathons.
My biggest accomplishments this year both involved half marathons. I ran my first ever half in January at ZOOMA just 2.5 months after I started running, and then in November, I ran the Thunder Road half in my goal time (under 2:30 and after a late night) – Thunder Road was significant since my first race was their 5k just a year before!
My biggest accomplishment was finishing my first triathlon and overcoming my fear of swimming!
Registering for my first marathon! I know that I haven’t accomplished it yet but this is a huge step for me.
I think my biggest accplishment is finishing 11 halfs this year! Hell, I even ran a half and 3 days later broke out in shingles…no wonder i didnt run it so well! Persistence as my theme this year!
I ran my first full marathon in October. I’m ready to do another!
Hm. That’s hard for 2013 b/c I took it sort of easy this year with regards to racing. I’m going with being proud of myself for staying with a plan to get back in running shape. (That surgery was tough to bounce back from!) Lol!
I have much to be proud of this year. Ran my 1st marathon in January and this year I became both a half fanatic and a marathon maniac
BY FAR my most proud accomplishment was my 13 min PR and BQ at Bayshore marathon in May!!
My biggest accomplishment of 2013 was running my first half marathon…and by the end of the year I had run 5!
My biggest accomplishment of 2013 was running my 1st half marathon in Feb 2013 and running 4 more by the end of the year! 🙂
i’m only 4 miles away from my 2013 mileage goal of 700 miles! pretty happy about that 🙂
My biggest accomplishment is establishing a Run Club at my daughter’s elementary school. The Run Club is an after school program for the children and the parents are the coaches. It has been wonderful to create a new running community of parents and children.
Fort4Fitness half marathon in September. First race ever.
I am most proud of pushing myself to complete more than I thought I would have been able to at this time last year. This past year I did my first triathlon and first half marathon!
Breaking 2 hours for the half marathon. Did not think I would hit that milestone this year.
Successfully finishing my first 50K!
My biggest accomplishment is running the Route 66 half marathon in 2:06 while running in 25 degree weather with a windchill of 18! It was brutal but I was proud to finish at my time goal still!
My biggest running accomplishment of the year, as simple as it is, has been running. After running constantly on cross country and track teams in high school I became burnt out. Last fall I decided I had been lazy for too long and wanted to start running again. I signed up for a local half marathon this May which I completed with a time of 1:54. This october I completed my second half marathon with a time of 1:47. I have fallen in love with the sport all over again and it has been such an amazing journey. I can’t wait to see what is in store for next year!
I honestly think my biggest accomplishment of 2013 was starting my own running blog and sharing my experiences as I get healthier and back to being the runner I used to be before my injury. I did complete one race this year, and I’m also proud of that. Hoping for a much brighter 2014!
I’m so proud of my 55 pound weight loss and completing my first 26.2 in honor of my dad on my 26th birthday!
I am most proud of my back to back PR’s….Savannah Marathon then the Atlanta Thanksgiving Half Marathon just 3 weeks later!! (Love cold running too!!)
At the beginning of 2013 I’d never run more than 6 miles at a time and now I’ve run 2 half marathons and I’m super proud of that
Omg! All of these items would be great stocking stuffers for myself! I love Brooks, their gear is amazing and so quality and it looks so warm!
On August 18th I crossed the finish line of my first Half Ironman – what a feeling!!!!
My biggest accomplishment in 2013 is that after months of time off I finally got back out there and started over again from the beginning.
My running achievement for 2013 that I am most proud of is my new marathon PR of 3:05 and winning two ultra Ragnar Relays with team High Nuun. Such a great team!!
Definitely my proudest running achievement this year was finishing my first marathon (NYC). It was a blast.
I am most proud of completing the Dumbo Double Dare at Disneyland in August.
So far, my biggest running accomplishment is running my first half back in April! Now, I’m training for a full!!!! Hooked?! Yes I am!!!!
This will probably sound off BUT…. my biggest accomplishment is staying so calm about being sidelined from two marathons that I planned on running three weeks apart. I realized through those injuries that running is a LIFE LONG sport and two races out are much better than ALL future races being off limits. In the past it would have tore me apart, this year it built me up.
My biggest accomplishment this year has been running consistently throughout the year!! I’ve been able to take my 5k time from over 38 minutes to 31:42, which is huge. I really enjoy running now!
My biggest running accomplishment this year was running my third half marathon – and my second since being diagnosed with MS.
That is absolutely incredible. MS is a difficult issue to deal with. So very proud of you.
My proudest moment was completing a 3rd half-marathon and running with my dad. We split up at mile 10 so that he could run the marathon distance but I loved our father/daughter weekend.
My proudest running moment was running my firs ever half marathon! Second one – running a race ran when I was 12 yrs old and now I ran out while being 2 months pregnant 🙂
Running my first, second, and also third half marathon this year!
Running again after giving birth has been my biggest accomplishment this year.
Running the Chicago Marathon in October! My first full marathon!
Taking my 5k PR from 27:04 to 25:17 in 2 months!
I ran my first marathon!! 🙂
My biggest accomplishment was running 8 mines straight when I was 18 weeks pregnant. Before pregnancy I had a love/hate relationship with running. I may have ran 45 mins straight. To run 8 miles was a big deal for me!
I am proud of my first self-trained half and my first 15 mile long run!!
I’m most proud of completing my first half marathon this year!
I PR’ed on my marathon and half marathon times in 2013, but my proudest moment is that I got to cross the finish line with my bride as we did a half marathon relay together.
I’m most proud of training for my first marathon, Its only a month away from now!
Two big and proud moments for me this year! 1. Finishing my second marathon with a 17-minute PR. and 2. Completing my first olympic distance triathlon!!

2008 – Chicago (First ever 04:31:09)
2009 – NYC (PR 04:12:09)
2010 – Nashville (Race Director pulled the plug due to rain at mile 21.3)
2011 – Atlanta (First Galloway – Oct 04:46 )
2012 – Big Sur (toughest course but hung in there 04:40:08)
I am most proud of completing my first marathon in 2013
I spontaneously signed up for a run/swim/run at the beginning of the season when I had only done one real swim. I was really scared but did it anyways and am pretty proud of myself for going through with it.
My best running accomplishment was running my first 10k and 15k races within 10 days of each other! Never ever thought I could run that far!!
I’m most proud of a half marathon PR, running my first marathon and my first 50k!!
Im proud of getting back into running!
I ran my first full marathon this year at Marine Corps and it was an EPIC experience! I have told people that I had a freakishly perfect first marathon experience. I can’t wait to run another! 🙂
Finishing my first half Iron and my first marathon!
Even though I wasn’t thrilled with my time, I’m most proud of following a training plan (which started in the middle of Phoenix’s summer) for my second half marathon! No. 3 is in March and I will definitely hit my goal time 🙂
I am most proud that through hard work and a whole lot of running that I have lost 25 pounds and therefore was able to beat my PR time by ten minutes during my favorite race.
My biggest fitness accomplishment this year was completing my first triathlon… and then two more! (all sprints)
My biggest running accomplishment was running my first marathon, and just under goal to boot!
I am most proud of taking 2013 into my own hands and making it a much happier year than if I had let it all slide! I am so proud of the fact that I ran my first (and second!) half marathon in October!
This is awesome! I am most proud of completing 2 Ironman 70.3 races this year, especially having to fight for the finish at Augusta!

Thanks for this, Jes!
I am proud of the fact that I finished two half-marathons, despite not being fully trained for either of them. Far from PR’s, but I finished!

I am most proud of completing my first half marathon this year 🙂
Running my first full marathon!
I am most proud of completing my goal races this year, and enjoying all of them!
I am most proud of the fact that I did my first 5k with my Dd. We finished together (she put up with my pace) at the Mickey’s Jungle Jingle at Animal Kingdom and I couldn’t have been prouder of finishing or of my child coach!
I scored at least 1 PR at each distance this year!
I started running for the first time and I’m crazy proud of myself!!!
Just finished my first Marathon on 12/8. That was my biggest accomplishment since I just started running late last year.
It was the hardest thing I have done, but I quit a marathon at mile 22.5 due to severe cramping. I was able to run by the following week. I am proud that I listened to the needs of my body.
I finished my first Olympic triathlon this past August!
1.3 miles away from 2000 for the year!
My Blog: http://briansrunningadventures.blogspot.com/
Thanks
Brian
Setting a PR at the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I had so much fun running that race and for one of the first times ever for me, the last 3 miles were some of my quickest miles of the race!
Awesome giveaway! I used to despise running in the cold and finally realized last year what a difference it makes to just have the right gear!
I became a half fanatic in 2013. Later in the year I also achieved a personal best half time.
Passing my personal trainer exam in september 🙂
I am most proud of setting a PR at the 8k, 10k, 10 mile, and half-marathon distances! While my target Marathon race was not a PR, I am proud of the other accomplishments
I completed my first marathon! In the worst weather! it took me 5 hours, but I did it! And now I’ll be running boston in april!
I ran 3 marathons!
I’m most proud of turning a really bad marathon experience (Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll in June) into fuel for the first to train smart for the Chicago Marathon, which resulted in a 9-minute PR and the sub-4:00 finish I’d been after!
I finished my first half marathon in October!
Running an ultra relay with 5 other fabulous ladies and not having to walk one step of my 33+ miles!
I helped my wife finish her first (and she says only) marathon. I also ran my first Ultra, the JFK 50!
Finally stepping up & running my 1st Half. Then a month later I ran my 2nd Half.
Best running of 2013 was a half-marathon PR in November (by 11 minutes!) Bested my 2010 time, with less running training under my belt but lots of other physical activities to keep my in top shape.
It’s been a tough year…but I guess my biggest accomplishment was finally getting past the injuries, beating the plantar fasciitis monster (both physically AND mentally), and lacing back up and hitting the pavement again. I’m signed up to run my first 2 half marathons 2 weeks apart in April (my 40th birthday month)…so 2014 is looking mighty fine! 🙂
I set a goal to run 2 half marathons, and ended up running 3. While there was no PR this year, I finished the year strong and am proud of what I have done.
I’m most proud either of my first marathon or my first half Ironman. It has been a wonderful year!
The 2013 accomplishment I’m most proud of is my new marathon PR! It wasn’t quite my goal time thanks to a headwind, but a PR is still a happy accomplishment.
I am most proud of my 10k PR! Despite battling a sinus infection, I went into the race in September with high expectations for myself and managed to knock 7 minutes off of my 10k time!
I am most proud of running three half marathons this year. I have now run 4 halfs & one full (Plenty of 5 & 10ks also) since I started running in 2010
i’m most proud of completing three marathons in this calendar year – an intense season of training upon training, but i feel like i’ve learned a lot!
I am most proud that I really learned to love running this year. I’d completed 4 half marathons over the 4 years prior, but this year, I looked forward to running. Learned to love training (even while hating it at some points) and finished 4 half marathons (2 of those were PRs), 2 fun 5ks (not timed), 2 10Ks (my first 2, so 2 PRs), an 18 mile race, and training for my first full in January. It’s been a big running year, and I’m excited for next year.
I’m winning this for my sister who runs marathons!!
I’m proud that I was able to run three races this fall after giving birth to my son in the spring. Still working to get back to my pre-baby pace but psyched that I managed to come in first in my age division for one of the races.
I’m glad/proud that in the past year I’ve become more consistent with strength workouts and learning how to run smarter.

My husband and I ran 2 5k’s! We never thought we’d be runners…
Oh my gosh, you get to win all of this?! Awesome!!! I really want an Infinity Headband 🙂
I’m proud to say that I did way more than my goal of one 5k a month for 2013. I actually lost count. 🙂
Biggest accomplishment was just getting started in running consistently. I have had a number of running friends encourage me to start, but it was just the getting off the couch and giving it a go that was my biggest accomplishment. Also, raising over $300 in a fundraiser by running was an incredible accomplishment for me as well.
That I’ve run my first two Half marathons (both my first two ever and coincidentally on back to back weekends) this year!
My biggest running accomplishment was completing 5 half marathons and getting a PR in one. It was definitely a struggle at times to stay consistent but there’s nothing like accomplishing crossing the finish line. I’m doing my first sprint tri next year in Charlotte!
I am most proud of completing my first half marathon this year. After having a bout of IT band syndrome training for one 17 years ago, I never imagined myself being able to run distance. However, many years later and with a lot more information about running form and technique, I am happy to say that I now think I can successfully train for any distance.
My biggest accomplishment of 2013 has been falling in love with running with friends! I’ve always trained on my own, but this year I enlisted some extra support from running buddies – best decision ever! It’s made running so much more fulfilling and I’ve made wonderful friends in the process! Great lesson learned for 2013!
My biggest fitness accomplishment for 2013 was finishing the Ironman Miami 70.3, cutting off over an hour and twenty minutes from my previous half ironman time!
My biggest running accomplishment was finishing my first half marathon, and after crossing the finish line, knowing I want to do it again!
That after failing to finish the #INGNYCM due to hip issues, I am now running and plan to achieve my happy pace again in 2014!
Finally started racing!
I am most proud of running my first half marathon within my expected finish time.
