Weekly Training Recap: Dec. 16-22
Merry Christmas week! I hope your holiday is filled with the people you love most, your favorite foods and, of course, a few workouts. Last week, Mr. rUnladylike and I spent the first half of the week in Atlanta and the second half at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Logging all my training miles and seeing Mickey Mouse made it a pretty successful week. *wink*
Here’s what last week’s training for the ZOOMA Florida Half Marathon looked like:
MONDAY
Ran 5 miles: 3 x 1-mile repeats at 6:53 pace on the treadmill with a 400-meter recovery between each (plus warm-up and cool-down)
After my speed session, I was fortunate to spend the evening with a group of Atlanta running bloggers for our first annual holiday running party. If you don’t follow them already, be sure to check out these lovely ladies!
- Elizabeth (@runningforbling) from Running for Bling
- Lindsay (@TwistNRun) from Twisted Running
- Katie Randolph (@mamarandolph) from The Misplaced Marylander
- Amy Walker (@AmyWalk) from My Life as a Lazy Girl
- Kristen Cincotta (@kscincotta) from kristencincotta.com
- Melissa Sikorski (@melissasikorski) from My Peach Life
In addition to eating way too many sweet treats, we did a dirty running Santa gift exchange (similar to a white elephant gift exchange but with running-related presents – such a great idea!). I scored an awesome pair of Balega socks that I can’t wait to run in!
TUESDAY
Rest (aka Celebrated Mr. rUnladylike’s birthday)
WEDNESDAY
7-mile tempo run (1.5-mile warm up, 4 miles at 7:25 pace on a mostly flat, paved trail, 1.5-mile “cool down finish” at 8:20 pace)
THURSDAY
I did my first barre class with one of my best pals from college in Orlando at a studio called Barre 54. It was like a mash up of pilates, yoga, ballet, body conditioning and strength training in one. We worked nearly every part of our body, including quads, hamstrings, biceps, triceps, calves, abs and more. It was a really fun morning, and I’d love to try another barre class soon.
FRIDAY
No official exercise, but I did walk around Disney World for 12 hours. That has to count for something, right?
SATURDAY
3.25-mile run on the treadmill at our hotel gym in Orlando (I did intervals to prevent the boredom: 0.5 miles at 9:30, 1 mile at 7:30, 0.5 miles at 9:30, 1 mile at 7:30, 0.25 miles at 9:30)
30-minute ride on a stationary bike (7.6 miles)
SUNDAY
14 solo miles in the Florida heat

Are you planning to run during the week of Christmas? Are you taking more time off than usual this week or will you exercise like normal?

I don’t know how I missed it, but a pure barre opened in va hi this year?? I’m thinking about doing the fly barre challenge in January to change things up a bit. And, haven’t missed a workout yet while home. It rained Sunday so I missed my run but did your thanksgiving Instagram workout instead 🙂 better than nothing, right? Hope Disney was fun!
What fun that looks like with blogger blends! Happy holidays friend!
Great training week! I definitely have been getting my runs in this week. My three kids are home from school for another 8 days and their fighting is driving me bonkers….exercising is my only sanity. Merry Christmas!
After being in Chattanooga earlier today and Tampa now it’s crazy to me how different the temperatures are. Running in the warmth doesn’t suck as much life out of you once you start to get more used to it. I won’t go so far as to say that it gets pleasant, but it’s not as bad. Happy late birthday to your husband. I love that you all went to Disney for it. My husband loves Disney too!
Your training looks like it’s going really well! Nice pace on those mile repeats! And I”m super jealous of your blogging get together! So fun! Still bummed we missed you at Disney…but may another time:)
Awesome week! I totally think walking around Disney counts as a workout!
Honeymoon Island is right near where my fiances’ parents Florida home is! (They live up here in NY in Summer and for Holidays…good little snowbirds)!! I ran around there in February when we visited them!
