Weekly Training Recap: Dec. 23-29
As magical as the holiday season has been, I must admit – I’m ready to get back on track. Between Christmas parties, vacation, family get-togethers and my favorite sweets staring me in the face, my last few weeks of eating have been a wreck, and my training has been about simply fitting it all in. I’m looking forward to starting a fresh year with new goals based on the lessons learned from 2013. Until then, here’s what last week’s training for the ZOOMA Florida Half Marathon looked like (just 3 weeks to go until race day!).
MONDAY
REST
TUESDAY
6-mile speed session on the treadmill consisting of 10 x 400-meter repeats at 6:27 pace with a 400-meter recovery jog between each + warm-up and cool-down
WEDNESDAY
REST: This was an unintended rest day. I chose to sleep in on Christmas morning rather than heed the buzzing of my early alarm clock. Tis the season. (See already mentioned desires to get back on track.)
THURSDAY
5-mile trail run on Honeymoon Island State Park at 8:00/mile average pace followed by 15 minutes of ab work
FRIDAY
1-hour ride on spin bike
How amazing was our sunset on the beach in Nokomis, Florida?
SATURDAY
10-mile run in Nokomis Florida along Casey Key
SUNDAY
REST: Another unintended rest day to travel back to Atlanta from our holiday vacation. I know, I know. I should have gotten up early before our 8-hour drive home to work out. I didn’t. This is the last bad decision I’m blaming on the “holidays.” *wink*
If you’re interested in running the ZOOMA Florida Half Marathon (or 5K) with me, use code FLAAMB4 to get $10 off your registration. Prices increase on January 5. I am an ambassador for the race.

How did your training go during the week of Christmas. Did you run on Christmas day? What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Oh don’t be so hard on yourself! Looks like you definitely made the most of your time when you did run! Last week I only ran on Sunday and Saturday but did some other stuff in between. I think I’m most looking forward to getting recharged with 2014!
No worries about resting so much during the holidays. Those rest days are much deserved. I rested on Christmas Day, then worked out the other days of the week. I am most looking forward to pushing myself in 2014 to new races and new PRs.
Ah, I love Amelia Island! I, too, am so ready to get back into routine! Holidays take their toll!
Great week! I took the first half of the week as rest for the most part. Didn’t run or workout on Christmas eve or day, and honestly it felt amazing to relax and spend time with family and not worry about anything else.
I can’t belive your half is only 3 weeks away! You are going to do awesome!
Those are some amazing workouts considering it was a vacation/ holiday week! New year new motivation?
My bad holiday decisions involved red velvet cinnamon rolls. Negated any workouts I did. Blech.
Your beach pictures are amazing. I hope you had a great trip!
