Rave Runs of 2015
Every year, I travel back in time to remember the most magical miles of the past 365 days. Running is more than logging miles and chasing goals. It’s an adventure into the new, the exciting and the unknown. During 2015, running was with me as I traveled around the country and experienced huge life changes. These were the miles that made this past year meaningful. {You can see my rave runs of 2014 here and my rave runs of 2013 here.}
January: Chicago in the Winter
March: Tucson, Arizona
In March, I ran in Sabino Canyon and on the Rillito River Park Trail in Tucson, Arizona. Read more about where to run in Tucson and my running adventures there here.
March: Savannah, Georgia
Savannah is such a pretty place to run, especially around all the historic squares. Read about my running and racing adventures in Savannah here.
May: From Atlanta to Tampa
In May, Mr. rUnladylike and I left our digs in Atlanta to relocate to Tampa. I logged my last miles as an Atlantan with my pal Elizabeth (with quite a few tears) …
… and my first miles as a Florida resident with this as one of my first views. The weather here has been frustrating and challenging for me this year, but the views sure are amazing.
June: Seattle
I spent the weekend in Seattle with my Brooks Running family and got to run in one of my favorite cities. In addition to running the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon for the third time, I also got to run on this little path near Brooks Headquarters with a fantastic group of women. I can’t get enough of the Pacific Northwest!
July: Maine
In July, I traveled to Maine for some epic hiking and running. I ran in Portland, Bar Harbor and through Acadia National Park. The views were stunning and the miles were amazing. Read more about where to run in Maine and my adventures there here.
August: Boston
After our trip to Maine, we crossed months and states to end our adventure in Boston. This run was along the Charles River Esplanade.
September: Amelia Island, Florida
Mr. rUnladylike had a work trip in Amelia Island, so I made the 4+-hour drive to spend the weekend up there. I ran 14 solo miles in the rain along the coast and through the state park. There were some stunning views despite the tough weather.
September: Chicago
It was back to Chicago in September for work, which meant I got to add some summer running to my winter run from earlier in the year. The sunrise made my early morning alarm worth every second.
October: Wells, Maine
In October, it was back to Maine for the Rise.Run.Retreat. I spent an incredibly inspiring weekend with nine other amazing runners. We stayed in a beautiful beach house on the coast of Wells, Maine, and I ran a 3-mile run and took a morning yoga class here. We ended the weekend with the Maine Half Marathon in Portland, which was a special experience I will never forget.
October: North Carolina
Several weeks after my trip to Maine, Mr. rUnladylike and I headed to North Carolina to spend a few days in Blowing Rock and Asheville. Although I decided to take a few weeks off from running after the Maine Half Marathon, I still did some strength workouts and hikes in the mountains. This was in downtown Blowing Rock during a strength training workout.
November: British Virgin Islands
It was too hot to run outside while I was in the British Virgin Islands, but I had a pretty rave view from my spot on the treadmill.
I had a blessed year full of wonderful moments and memorable miles. Thank you for running with me here on runladylike.com. Wishing you merry miles this week and always. xo
Where were the most memorable places you ran during 2015? What would you consider to be your rave runs? Where do you most want to run in 2016?

Oh I love this so much!! I have actually run in most of these places and I think Chicago has to be my favorite of all time. I love that you were able to run there in the winter!! Obviously I had a blast running and talking and being with you and all the other ladies in Maine in October. I can only hope for a repeat of that weekend in 2016!! xoxo
Our time in Maine was certainly one of the highlights of my running year. Can’t wait for a repeat somewhere awesome in 2016. Wishing you an amazing Christmas and holiday with your family. xo
So many magical miles! I wish I could travel and run more. So many great places to explore!
My favorite runs this year in no particular order: Denali Nation Park in Alaska, where I came to close to a moose for my liking; Buenos Aires, Argentina through a cemetery in Recoletta where Eva Peron is buried; Vancouver, British Columbia again in Stanley Park Waterfront and Venice, Louisiana deep in the Bayou, where I took a detour upon seeing a large alligator in the road ahead where I was going. Glad I had my Road ID on all these runs !!!
Wow Mike! Talk about some rave runs. You have me so jealous over here. I want to run in all of those places. It sounds like you have had one amazing year. I will pass on the alligator though 🙂 Have a wonderful holiday and thanks for sharing!
Ok! This it the post I hope to write next year! Because I’ve declared 2016 my year of destination races!
And even tho I live in Chicago, it’s still one of my favorite places to run!
Awesome Wendy! I hope you’ll get to explore some awesome places. You know I love Chicago. One of these trips we’ll have to get together for a run since I am there so often for work. xo
You’ve had so many beautiful runs and great travels this year! This post definitely inspires me not to just stick to the hotel treadmill when I travel. The Eastside of Seattle is my favorite place run from the year, even though I run there all the time. I’d love to squeeze in some outdoor runs when I’m in London next year!
One of my favorite things about traveling so much is exploring places on the run if I’m in a location that is conducive/safe for running outside. You know I absolutely adore Seattle and wish I could run there more. You guys have such a special city. And since it is eternally 80 degrees here in FL, I’d pretty much like to be anywhere else running right now. LOL. Can’t wait to see your adventures in London!!! xoxo
I loved every moment of this!! What an amazing year of running you have had! Such beautiful places to run and explore, which is one of the thousands of reason why our sport is so wonderful!
That Arizona run looked stunning and I have always wanted to explore Savannah. I can’t believe I have never been to Seattle!! Maine is one of my favorite states and so fun you got to go there twice 🙂
Wishing you a lovely holiday and cheers to running in beautiful places in 2016!! xx
Thank you Natalie!!! Running in Sabino Canyon in Tucson was one of my favorite running moments of the year. I am going back to Arizona in February to run the Sedona Half Marathon and then will be going to Tucson for a few days after for work so I intended to run out there again. The weather should be nice and I’m looking forward to it. I agree with you that Maine is one of the best states. I just love it there. I hope our running paths will cross in 2016. Wishing you amazing training for Boston. Merry Christmas! xoxo
you had such an amazing year with beautiful trips!!!! loved looking back.
LOVE this! You traveled and ran in some awesome destinations. I think one of my favorite runs was running in Pittsburgh! I found this really awesome running trail and spent an afternoon before my flight exploring… it was amazing. 🙂
This is so fun! I love this. I have always wanted to go to Amelia Island. We took a honeymoon to Croatia this year and I had a few amazing runs along the coast there–definitely a memorable one!
I love traveling to these gorgeous spots with you!! Now you make me want to visit some of these spots to run! Chicago is one of my favorite. SF is my other 🙂
