Mother’s Day Giveaway: Win a Complete SKINS Outfit
Thank you to my friends at SKINS Compression Clothing for inspiring and supporting today’s Mother’s Day giveaway.
When it comes to moms, I hit the jackpot. As in the Powerball mega jackpot. The greatest gifts my mom has given me aren’t things you can see or feel; rather they are perspectives on how to live – a strong sense of self, the desire to do what’s right, not what’s easy and confidence in all things. It’s these gifts that have guided me through many decisions, choices and avenues in life. My mom is, simply stated, the reason I am who I am and the kind of person I strive to be.
In addition to teaching me about unconditional love, my mom has also taught me a lot about running – even though it seems like the other way around. My mom and dad met in high school. He was 17, she was 16. In my dad’s romantic style, he took her to a track meet on their first date. I was destined to be a runner from the beginning, far before they made it to second base.
For years, my mom was the supporter – the ultimate spectator and cheerleader. She attended my dad’s high school and college track meets. She cheered in the crowds during road races. She took me to college cross country meets as a little girl when my dad became a coach so we could see his athletes run.

Then, it was my turn. She came to my middle school and high school track meets and cheered in the stands. She accompanied me to marathons in big cities to hold balloons and wave flags so I could spot her in the crowds in Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New Orleans.
And then, about four years ago, she left her post on the sidelines and became the runner. What started as walking slowly became jogging for short spurts. Which then became stringing a whole 60 seconds of running together. Which then became nine half marathon finishes with the 10th on the way. I often find myself as the spectator these days at one of her many races.
Win an Outfit for Mom (or Your Badass Mother Runner Self)
As we prepare for Mother’s Day this weekend, I want to honor my mom and all the amazing mother runners out there, as well as the moms who support runners like me to believe in ourselves and to never give up. To celebrate, I’m giving away a complete outfit from my friends at SKINS, a company that creates compression wear to boost training and performance and accelerate recovery. I started wearing their recovery tights last year (which I continue to wear weekly and LOVE), and have continued to work with their awesome team to test {free} products periodically.
Earlier this year, they launched a new line called the SKINS DNAmic range, which includes their same compression technology {check out all the research and science that has gone into their products here} but with new bold graphic designs. Today, I’m giving away one pair of the new SKINS DNAmic Women’s Capri Tights and my favorite SKINS Plus Women’s Mission Short Sleeve Top. I often wear this outfit to strength training or barre class and mix and match it with other Brooks tops and bottoms.

The Shwag
These three-quarter tights feature SKINS unique Dynamic Gradient Compression to support and stabilize the glutes, quads and hamstrings. They are said to increase oxygen delivery to active muscles while in motion and reduce lactic-acid build-up for more power and less recovery time. Additionally, they are designed to wrap and support key muscle groups to reduce movement and focus direction for less vibration in your muscles, less soft tissue damage and less soreness after exercise.
What I like about them:
- They are extremely flattering and fit great. The wide band around the waist sits at just the right place, flattening your stomach and making you appear your leanest.
- They are very comfortable, and movement in them is very easy – from yoga poses to strength training intervals.
- The fabric has a UV protection of 50+, which is great for someone like me who lives in Florida and is constantly in the sun. The fabric is also light enough – like a second skin – to not get too hot in more humid climates.
- They wash and wear well.
- While I haven’t done a study to assess if I am more or less sore after workouts wearing these pants and those without compression, I do think I feel good working out in these and after.
The only thing I noticed while testing them was some of my sweat left white marks after a really intense workout on my backside. Since I’m a pretty unladylike person, this didn’t phase me, but I’d prefer my sweat not be that apparent.
Additionally, at $139.99 they are a bit pricey and beyond what some can afford but are in line with high-end compression wear.
Plus Women’s Mission Short Sleeve Top
SKINS Plus women’s collection includes loose-fitting sportswear designed to complement compression gear. I prefer looser fitting tops over compression tanks and shirts because I find that the tops aren’t very flattering (i.e. they show every lump and bump). The lightweight, nearly sheer fabric is amazing in the Florida heat and the top is super stylish with a wide band around the waist. It also has UV protection of 50+. Even better, it is currently on sale for $15. Say what!?!

My owe mom inspires me with her unconditional love and selflessness. I love seeing her with my toddler son.
My mom is my best friend–always has been and always will be.
My aunt was at my mom’s side when she passed away in a hospital bed from ovarian cancer. My mom asked my aunt, her sister, to take care of me and my brother (17 and 19 at the time) and it’s a role she has taken very seriously. I would have never survived losing my mom or becoming one myself, without her. She is one of the most important women in my life, my biggest cheerleader, confidant and friend. Although losing my mom was the worst thing to ever happen to me, I feel lucky to have my aunt in my life as my surrogate mom!
I love that you and your mom have such a close and amazing relationship. It would be a dream come true for me to have run with my mom or for her to have seen me finish even one race. But, I have run with my aunt and she has cheered me to so many finishes, I can’t even count!
Thanks for doing this and honoring ALL moms!!! xoxo
My sister in law is amazing. With 5 young kids she still has time to help others who need it and have a good attitude.
My aunt has always been like a second mother to me. She has her own children, but she has loving treated me like I am hers. I appreciate everything she has done for me more than she knows.
This could have been written about my mom (except the running half marathons now part!). My mom and dad have traveled across the country for marathons for my sister and I, for track and cross country races when we were in high school and supported the seemingly endless miles and talk about all things running. It would be difficult to do any of it without her support!
My mom inspires me each and everyday. She is my best friend and biggest supporter alongside my husband! I am so thankful for her!!
My friend/sister/momma, Carmen, has truly made a difference for me in many areas in my life. She encourages when needed, yet she holds me accountable for my actions. She has taught me how to deal with difficult “kid issues” and never judges me for them. She is busier than any definition of busy can be, but she always makes time for me and those who are in need. We laugh and cry together and she just makes living life together all the more meaningful.
My mom was my best friend. We had our problems, like all families do, but she always wanted the best for me. Though she passed on when I was 21, she is a huge inspiration in my life. She was in an abusive marriage and left for the sake of my older brothers and for herself. I don’t think anyone realizes how hard leaving a person that hurts you but you still love can be. I learned from her that you got to love and respect yourself before anyone else will do the same. You have to stand up for yourself to be strong. My mom was the epitome of strong. (I know this isn’t anything about running, even though I would kill for her to be at any of my races. I really got into running to help cope with her sudden death. Sorry for this post not being about running and not really being about a currently living person.)
My mom has been my unconditional cheerleader, encourager, supporter and has become one of my best friends. I feel incredibly lucky to have her and to get to see her relatively often even though we live far from one another (looking forward to seeing her 4 times in the next few months – Woo hoo!!). She’s a beautiful, wise, funny woman and I hope I’m half the wonderful person she is!
I really appreciate my grandmother who has supported me throughout my life and has maintained a positive outlook of the world despite losing both her father and daughter to the same cause of death.
My mom is so strong and shows me how to never give up! She is my biggest supporter!
My mom is my greatest inspiration. She raised me and my three brothers to stand up for what we believe in, work hard, and look at life with a positive outlook. She is currently fighting an amazing battle against breast cancer, and she continues to be positive and uplifting to those she encounters. I love that she is my best friend!
My mom is awesome! She’s supportive, loving, utterly selfless, and a wonderful grandmother to my boys 🙂
My mom is amazing. She is always helping others.
My mother has been active in our lives, her love is unconditional. She’s a great mother and a super grandmother. She is awesome.
My mom is the most self-less person I know – always giving up the last bite of cheesecake when we were young, now traveling to see my brother and I across the country to cheer on our races. Last weekend, she came to visit me and spent the entire weekend helping me clean and organize my apartment – in spite of the fact that she and my dad have been overhauling their house for weeks! I love my mom.
My mom will give up anything to help others. She volunteers and makes a difference in every person’s life. I am so lucky to be following in her footsteps with my own daughter and she has been such a great example.
My great-grandmother was an inspiration. Hard working and selfless.
My mom is my inspiration. She is so hardworking but always puts others first, she seems to never get tired and is always up to something new. She majorly supportive and gives me the confidence to go after my dreams.
my mother is such a hero to me. She motivates and inspires and just brings so much love into my world
Dorila, my grandma is my spirit animal. She had 14 kids with two miscarriages and husband that suffered a cruel death. I think she’s loved a lot but her losses make her strong. The most nurturing, down to earth, positive mother I’ve had the pleasure to know.
my mother means the world to me. She is my voice of reason, motivator and supporter!
My sister is my best friend, She is always there for me.
my cousin is an amazing doctor, teacher, mom, friend, and many other things. Her daughters are lucky to have her!
My sister has always been there for me like a mother!
When I could not get pregnant, my sister offered to carry a child for us. Through IVF I conceived triplets and she taught me how to be a mom as she led by example. So so lucky to have my Sissy by my side!
my mom and grandmother mean the world to me. They’ve made this life the greatest adventure and constantly make me feel like each day is a beautiful miracle.
My mom is the bomb. She loves me no matter what! I think I’m her favorite! 😂
I have never been close to a mother figure. I have tried to make the relationship closer between my mother and I…she just doesn’t do relationships. So I can’t really say their is one out there that I really look up too. Sad I know but I think it makes me a better mom. Not wanting my kids to feel the same way I did growing up and even now. 🙂
My mom is awesome. She is the light, laughter, love, and crazy that holds the family together. Without her, vacations are boring. She is always there to listen, offer advice and support. She has crewed in more Ultra races for me than I can remember. She always sees the best in me. Best mom ever.
My mom was and still is special to me. She always encouraged me in all my endeavors.
My wife is the mother of our 10 children and also inspires me to stay fit active. We almost always run together. Yoga, trail running, training for our first Tri and Marathon this year. Thankful I found her 🙂
My mom is loving, kind, caring, and is always there for me!
So thankful for my mom, she has raised us all by herself when our dad left us. She worked two jobs just so that we could afford rent, food and transportation. Every so often she would spoil us with a new piece of clothing
Beautiful photos. Whenever I complete a run, no matter the distance, I take a deep breathe knowing that I just did something to improve my health and well-being there’s nothing like, a good cardiovascular work out to achieve that. Best regards from Poland 🙂
My mother has always been there for me. Caring with a kind heart. I will always love her for that.
My mom is very important to me as she has shown all of us unconditional love and support, always there to lend a helping hand or a great listening ear without judgement. She is amazing and we love her so much!
My mother is very important to me as she is so giving of herself to others.
my mother is the best human being i’ve ever known. She’s my rock and my best friend
My mom passed away 3 months ago. She was an incredible woman and learning to live without her has been a challenge. Exercise hormones help.
